The Gloom of Kilforth Kickstarter was just recently funded and is now close to 24 hours left!!

Gloom of Kilforth is closing in on the end of a successful Kickstarter campaign. It is a card-driven tactical Fantasy quest game for anywhere from from 1-4 players. Check out the Kickstarter Campaign page here for a full description and some great preview videos!

Gloom of Kilforth is inspired by games like Descent, D&D, Runebound, and Eldritch Horror. The creator also mentions heavy influence from the wonderful Lord of the Rings: The Card Game.

I’m really also drawn to the quality the creator, Tristan Hall, has tried to apply to the game in trying to distill all that we love about older, more detailed RPGs offer on time-frame that is more reasonable for lives that can get pretty busy. A new baby in my life has been wonderful, but it requires much more creative use of time to get game sessions in – Gloom of Kilforth seems like it would fit well and have that similar feeling of an epic quest!

I also like the idea of the Saga cards that drive each character’s story forward, also making every game unique. Having Action Points represented by your remaining HP is really cool too!

The artwork for Gloom of Kilforth is pretty gorgeous as well, seeing the images and cards laid out certainly had me excited for a game that says it will be shipping in 13 months!!

Tristan Hall overall seems to be a great, and appreciative designer. After reading some of his posts on the Kickstarter Campaign, I found myself rooting for it to be funded. He’s been developing this game for 8 years, and watching the previews and reading over the rules my initial judgment is that the attention and refinement shows.

The price point definitely caught my eye initially when looking at the campaign, as it is mostly cards, and $75 seems a little steep for that. After further review of the game and noticing that the $75 included worldwide shipping, I was able to more easily justify the purchase.

At this point, I would definitely encourage anyone interested in this type of cooperative tactical RPG card game to take a look at what Gloom of Kilforth has to offer – and check it out soon! This one might be much harder to come by after the Kickstarter ships!

Side Note: I now have two pledges on Kickstarter for games with the word “Gloom” in the title. Feels like I’m Eeyore or something…
